I was delighted to share my expertise on initiating GHG emissions measurement at the CPA Australia NZ ESG Committee's inaugural in-person workshop.

It was a productive session where we delved into practical tools and methodologies for businesses to understand and report their environmental impact.

I aimed to demystify the complexities of decarbonisation, making it accessible for participants with varying levels of GHG reporting experience.

Key points I emphasised included:

  • Breaking down the process: I discussed the importance of segmenting the challenging task of emissions estimation into manageable steps for easier initiation and consistent progress.
  • Utilising existing tools: I highlighted the availability of numerous tools and methodologies that businesses can leverage to calculate GHG emissions and assess climate risks, eliminating the need to start from scratch.

I'm grateful to Sagar Adhau for his excellent facilitation and for hosting us at the Grant Thornton Wellington office. My thanks also go to Rebecca Kennedy and Yinka Moses, NZ ESG Committee for their vision in organising this workshop.

For those responsible for your organisation’s carbon footprint or GHG reporting who missed this event, I'm pleased to announce that the NZ ESG Committee has two more workshops scheduled for this year. Keep an eye out for further details.
