Everyone talks about AI.
Everyone talks about dashboards.
But very few people talk about the Silver Layer.
That’s where the real work begins.
It’s where raw data is transformed into trusted data through:
Without a strong Silver Layer, the Gold Layer simply delivers faster reports on inconsistent data.
Technology can ingest data.
Technology can present data.
But trust is built in between.

That’s why organisations don’t create value simply by implementing a data lake or lakehouse. They create value by investing in the governance, engineering, and business practices that transform raw data into a trusted business asset.
The Silver Layer may not be the most visible part of the architecture, but it’s often where business value is created, turning data into something that people can trust, understand, and use with confidence.
Because trusted data isn’t created at the point of consumption. It’s built long before it reaches the dashboard.
Where do you think organisations tend to underinvest the most, is it technology, governance, or business ownership?
