A few years ago EY published a very good piece of research entitled “the DNA of the COO”. It surveyed a large group of COOs about their perspectives on the role, and other C-Suite Execs to gain their perspectives on the role of the COO. Having spent a few years in the COO seat myself I found it a very interesting read.
This recent McKinsey piece is a bit shorter and of interest as it makes the point that COO roles are making a comeback (I wonder if dealing with operational challenges of Covid had something to do it!) and tables some perspectives on what skills COOs will need to succeed in the future.
Prior to the days of Covid, Mosaic FSI hosted a group of COO's from within our local financial services sector for an informal breakfast session where we shared perspectives on some of the unique challenges of the role.
